FREAKS

Tod Browning’s FREAKS gave /slash its soul: in a curiosity show emotions run high after Hans who was born with dwarfism marries the beautiful Cleopatra ignoring all the warnings. When she reveals her true nature at the marriage festivities the “freaks” launch their counter attack. No other film tells the story about the humanity of “monsters” and the monstrosity of humans more clearly and better than this one does: a call for solidarity among the excluded, a manual for insurrection and civil disobedience. “Gooble Gobble One of Us!”

From this year onward the /slash film festival will show FREAKS on a yearly basis in the program of the main festival.
