FRIENDLY BEAST

A small restaurant in Brazil as a steaming, highly flammable sociotope: a fat old man devours his meal, an arrogant bourgeois couple does not hold back their disgust with the working class, the effeminate cook is at odds with the chauvinist owner. The fuse is laid out and at the very latest when two young robbers burst into the restaurant, it is set on fire. Director Gabriela Amaral takes us on a journey through her cruel escalation chamber play with great elegance, a lot of humor, and surprising rigor. Enjoy your meal!
