THE DARK

A man on the run hides from the police in an old house on the countryside. After the darkness inside gobbles him up, something awakes on the backseat of his vehicle. A boy whose eyes were burnt out of his head strays through a patch of wood the natives call “Devil’s Den”: the dark forest houses something evil they say. The Austrian horror drama THE DARK was filmed in Canada and is an impressive contribution to the expanding catalog of dark coming-of-age fantasy: when outsiders and other “monsters” join forces, they can unhinge the world.
