In 1977 the exceptional Japanese director Nobuhiko Ôbayashi created a horror cult classic with the bonkers masterpiece HOUSE – in doing so, he did not realize the project of his heart, HANAGATAMI. 40 years later he did. And every shot explodes with surreal ideas: the portrait of a group of adolescents on the eve of WWII, as a fantastical coming-of-age fever dream, all while an army of the ghosts of the fallen is amassing.
