Bringing together the family for Christmas always harbors a potential of escalation. While the first evening at the Milgrams (!) is still overshadowed by grandfather’s racism, at the very latest on the next morning everything is different. The family home is surrounded by an impenetrable black mass. The only window to the outside world is an old tube television set broadcasting the words AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. A decade after his impressive debut feature THE DISAPPEARED, Johnny Kevorkian really came through with this experimental arrangement filled with horror and black humor. Pretty wild.
